Historical Traveler Reviews Travelodge Beach View Clearwater
Great if you have a limited budget!
Spent a few days there and had no complaints. Right across from the beach and very affordable. Nothing fancy, but the Adam's Mark is across the street, so we wandered over there and used their nice pool, tiki bar, etc without paying their ginourmous rates. Recommended for the younger traveler looking to get away, enjoy the beach atmosphere, and drink a few dozen PBRs while watching the sun set.
Really bad condition
We stayed in this motel for 1 day and found the condition is really horrible. The elevator is the smallest I have ever seen. The room is not clean at all. The air conditioner leaks water directly onto the carpet of the room all day and all night. I would suggest spend some more money to find a nicer place.
Stuck in elvartor
Was told this motel was on the beach but the beach was across the street. Didn't see the rooms. I only saw the elvevator. My daughter-in-law, 2year old grandson and I got on the elvevator but wasn't room for my son. The door closed and we were there for 15 minutes. Good my son couldn't get on for he was able to get help. Wasn't any way to call for help. The elvevator had been check in 2002. Went to another motel that was on the beach and we were all able to get on their elvevator.
Ok for college kids and seniors on limited budget
I stayed at this hotel twice in March 2004 with my wife and kids. The hotel is run downed somewhat and depressing if you go with a small family. I'd recommend staying at a more expensive place or somewhere off the beach at a better named chain. Our sink was clogged, rooms smelled, wallpaper was peeling, outlet was broken, beds were spongee, windows dirty, and the elevators were really small service elevators.
If you are on an extremely limited budget and you HAVE to stay somewhere, this would be ok.
Well after reading all hotel reviews for Clearwater Beach i decided on an "ocean view" efficiency here. The key word is ocean view. There are only 4 floors to this hotel and very few rooms face the ocean. The ocean is across a busy street and then beyond a public parking lot.
Difficult ocean view, but very few hotels are actually on the beach. The Marks Adams and Shepard Hotels face the ocean but have no beach or a rock breakfront. The place was borderline clean, needs updating and I did see ants. They also charga a daily fee whether you use the room safe or not. Staff was just OK, not this friendly crew portrayed in some the the reviews. For the price compared to others nearby it was acceptable.
Stayed for 5 nights in August 2003. Had a lovely Poolview room for a very reasonable rate (booked direct with Travelodge). Brilliant location just across the road from the beach. Loved Clearwater Beach and area around too, and will definitely return sometime in the future.
Good value, Excellent location
Just returned from a 4 day vacation (August 2003) at Clearwater Beach.
The hotel is a good value and has an excellent location. Rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay here if I visit Clearwater again.
Great location and value!
We obtained a great rate on this motel by booking direct with Travelodge online. Large room, very clean with everything working. Directly across from the public beach. Staff were polite and friendly.
I give this Travelodge a A+. The staff were very nice. The eff room met our expectations. We had an ocean view room which was fantastic. The room was very clean and neat. The neg were - the closet door was off it's track and the can opener was broken. The elevator was sort of creaky and flooring in it needed replacing. Plus we received this room for a very reasonable price All in all we enjoyed our visit and would return if we could get the same deal we had this year in 2003.
