The trailer park residents made me uncomfortable parking here. One guy came by on a bike carrying a huge shovel. Prostitutes are a common sight in the area.

We made the decision to hitch up the trailer, load the fridge, and make final preparations just in case we got a phone call to evacuate. Fortunately the fire was about 8 miles away and was handled very quickly with 160 fire fighters on the ground and 4 aircraft....disaster averted.

The bells have been in place since the early part of the century to mark the original route of "El Camino Real" from San Diego to Sonoma. The 700-mile-long El Camino Real linked California's 21 missions, which were founded by Father Junipero Serra and spaced one day's journey apart by horse. Over the years the El Caminio Real gave way to ...

We rode into Oatman. It felt like you had just ridden into a cowboy town and there was going to be a gunfight at any time. The were signs up asking you not to feed the Burro's on the verandah of the town. We took a number of photos and headed onto Needles. We then rode onto more "Easy Rider" movie locations as we climbed the Sacred mountains.

So this morning we started our journey towards Fresno airport and a vehicle replacement in the "mindblowing" speeds of 35 mph due to the spare tired we were driveing on. Last night was also pretty bad in terms of a good nights sleep. It felt like the motel had very thin walls because I could hear people walking around on the floor on top of us. People were also talking and leaving and parking cars outside, in the middle of the night. Severe stereo snoring didn't quite ...
