As it happened the road was faster than expected and we were in Visalia for 10.15am. We did a rehearsal in front of the webcam and then went for coffee. On Main Street Visalia, which is quite smart and subtle, we found a crowded cafe where we asked for two regular coffees to take out and got instead two enormous coffees to take out.

After gathering all the last minute materials for the trip, (we'd been preparing for months, and had the RV at the house for weeks, fixing it up and packing it), we were off. At least we thought we were until we heard a horrible screeching noise. Stopping the RV, we searched for clues but were stymied. Starting up again, we heard it again, and stopped immediately.

... begins to beat down on us. The restroom turned out to be a really good decision. We see lightning and hear thunder all night...and a few times it hit really close. It's comforting to have a roof over our head and know we won't end up as barbecue. We wake up in the middle of the night only to see the nearby parking lot covered with 1/2 inch of hail.
