Great Time, Very spacious accomadations and great locale
We have stayed here twice. The first time was when the bridge was hit. These people did everything they possible could to make us comfortable until we determined that we had to leave. The second time was this past week end June 18, 19, 2004. The place has easy access to the beach. Our inn keepers were very friendly and again did everything possible to make us comfortable. The breakfast was crowded but moved quickly. If I had to pick it would be the watered down decaf coffe. The orange juice and waffles were ok. Would like to see the same type of cinnamon roll they serve at the Austin area La Quinta's. This should be a standard for the industry. Would rate this facility........5 Jalapenos. Others must go there.
Worth every bit of effort
We spent a nice three day weekend back on June 26,2003. I enjoyed the view, and location of this great Travelodge. We are returning with friends again this summer to spent time time close to the beach with out all the sandy film on your items.
Travelodge, Clean, Excellant Value
My family and I had a wonderful stay at the Travelodge on South Padre Island. It is not a regular Travelodge. It is much nicer. It is new and the rooms and pool are clean. Hot breakfast at the property or you can walk to Ted's for the best breakfast on the Island. Located across from the convention center on the northern end of the island. Other great restaurants, Marcellos and Manuels in Port Isabel.
Highly recommend this property. Rooms are clean and large. Great location on the island. Short walk to beach with private access. Hot waffles for breakfast or kids eat free at Denny's. Will be back.
Stayed 04/04 great for money if you don't want to be on beach
For the money this is a great deal stayed at end of April for $62 in room with fridge, microwave, and entrance area with table and chairs. Nice touch of ceiling fans. Had two Queen beds. Pool is kinda small - The wirlpool is a large 12 person - not very hot. Need some guidance for parents with kids who thing spa is swimming pool. Room was cleaned dailey and towels not a problem - you do have to ask for extras for swimming. Did smell musty but take your Frebreeze and some dry carpet cleaner and that will take care of that. Bath was clean with no mold. Great deal for the money. Would stay here again. The walk to the beach is not too long and along a private path for hotel guest. Lobby has free internet access to check you e-mail.
Very nice hotel on SPI area.
The hotel is very well mantained and affordable in the price for US $79 per night you can get one suite with jacuzzi, the service is good, and the clean of the room all the days in the noon. This little hotel has a nice pool with jacuzzi with hot water. Is in the Padre Boulevard in the side of the beach, but not directly on the beach, you have to walk like a half mile to get to the beach by one exclusive walk of the hotel, anyway we have fun, the beach is very nice, better what we expected, the sand and the water very nice. I recommend this place and the South Padre Island Area for one very good and economic vacation.
Not the average Travelodge
Recently stayed at the Travelodge and was impressed by how nice the room was. Everything was clean and the rate was much lower than I would expect to pay - less expensive than a non resort property. Hot waffles for breakfast and internet access.
Nice hotel with private walkway to the beach!
Stayed here for a week (Sept. 28 - Oct. 3) for a price of $32.00/night, well worth it (back of hotel door said room was $300.00/night). Room had refrigerator and microwave which came in handy. The hotel has a private walkway to the beach which is very, very nice and also has an outdoor shower. Only received maid service 2 out of 5 days, extra towels can be gotten at the front desk. The free breakfast consisted of juice, coffee, waffles, toast and a box of doughnuts that was put out every morning the week I was there (guess not too many guests to eat all the doughnuts so they kept putting out the same box). Very off season, hotel was sort of deserted, no one in the back of the hotel, all were given rooms at the front (which I didn't understand). Pool and hot tub area very nice. Also has a washer/dryer that came in handy.
Would stay here again at the offseason rates but not during the summer or spring break, too expensive and not worth the price in my opinion.
South Padre Travelodge
My wife and I stayed here for a week in August. The room was comfortable, and included a small refrigerator, microwave, full-sized coffee maker, table and chairs. The hotel is located approximately one block from the beach, but it is easily accessible using the hotels private beach access walkway. Since the property is located on the northern end of South Padre, the beach was a little less crowded. The accomodations were good for the price, and we would stay here again.
A Comfortable Base for Exploring
We stayed for a week during February, found the room quiet and comfortable, located at the northern end of island development. It was a block from the sand beach, easily accessible using the motel's private beach access. The location was excellent for walking up and down the beach and is a couple of blocks from a very nice wildlife refuge. Breakfast consisting of cereals, sweet rolls, waffles with beverages was included in the cost of the room. The room was furnished nicely, included a small refrigerator, microwave, full-sized coffee maker, table and chairs. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. We would recommend this motel to friends and family and would stay here again.

... the day the gibbons would call to each other across the zoo and create the illusion that one was lost in a tropical rainforest. During my visit I was lucky enough to enjoy a one-on-one behind the scenes visit in several areas of the zoo (including the pygmy hippos, of course). I stood eye-level with a group of giraffe and fed them several heads of fresh lettuce, which they LOVED, as evidenced that they were getting a bit out of control with their foot-long tongues. In the great ape area ...
of course the weather was either raining, foggy, chilly and windy the first five days of our week that we were here. during one of the bad weather days, we went to the Brownsville flea market, great deals and very large, i'd say just as good as the florida ones. we also visited a rv/moble home resort in donna. it was beautiful, gated, restaurant, pool, community room as nice as a nice hotel, and a craft ...
Today was a really lovely day and a much needed lovely day.
We woke up early enough to have some coffee before heading to the laundromat. Emilie came over early to warm up; her heater kept blowing the fuse in her room so she didn't have heat all night. As the three of us were getting ready to take off to do laundry, Fridman knocked on the window to see if he could bring his laundry along. The man rarely has a free moment on the lot (he's a performer ...
