I had specifically planned our flight schedule so that we would arrive early in the day and leave later in the afternoon, that way Sandra wouldn't have to wake up early to drop us off at the airport. Sandra and Alicia packed us and our luggage up and drove us to Leon so we could catch our flight out at 2 pm. Another long weekend to the US, this time stopping into the middle in Chicago, IL. Nestled along the shores of Lake Michigan, it's a sprawling city, 3rd largest in the US. We end the Loop walk past the Chicago River and celebrate with a strawberry smoothie from Starbucks. We get this for $2 as the friendly cashier from the morning has given us a discount on our afternoon ...

... wtf?) and an idiot abroad (obviously we needed something lighthearted after the intense documentaries we were watching!). The first weekend of my stay, we had planned to stay in their permanent trailers at a campsite by Lake Michigan but due to the terrible weather, Toni arranged some drunken gatherings with her local fiends. Numerous games of beer pong, flip cup and this exciting dice game they taught me; we all got pretty smashed on beer and shots which I obviously got ...

The start of my second semester journey really began on December 27th, when I took a quick day trip to the windy city to obtain my Italian Visa. Many consulates will allow students to mail in their information to receive a visa, but unfortunately mine did not. They required that I present the information in person so that I could prove that I really was the person I claimed to be. This entire process ...
