Thursday 19th May 2011 – we checked into our hotel; a rather drab but cheap Travelodge at Heston westbound, which is about 4 mile/7 km from Heathrow airport where we were to pick up our friend Chris PEARSON in the morning.
Because we had time to spare we grabbed a taxi which took us to the nearest tube station and we caught a train …
... left to fill in the afternoon. Turns out we were right about the appeal, but we did some shopping and were back bi about 4pm.
At shortly after 5:00 we headed to the pub for dinner, which serves an awesome grilled haddock
with chips and mushy peas. Now at 7pm, we are in our room having coffee/tea and winding down.
Off to York tomorrow !
... crunchy and soft on the inside. There was also salad. I couldn't finish it! I asked for a lemon lime frink knowing that in the past bitters is something that they don't know over here. The lady asked me if I would like bitters with the lemon lime. I was really shocked but it was lovely.
Home to bed in a room with a really annoying squeaky door that everyone in the entire building could hear I'm sure. I had a shower in a shared bathroom. When I turned ...
... where the Common Folk Club takes place every Thursday. We had a warm welcome, and we sang Watercress and Well, Well, Well. There were lots of performers, with several singer / songwriters. Quite a few folksy pop songs, and not much traditional folk. It didn’t finish until 1115pm. We got a lift back to the boat.
No locks, 6 miles.
