    ... max, instead of the more average 11.5-12kg. My suitcase weighs just shy of 7kg, and is also too big. So one change of clothes in the messenger bag for the carryon, and the rest checked.

    I'm doing this trip on the cheap, which is pretty much a requirement with my budget:

    Plane: $780

    Rail Pass: $394 (I'm taking 3 to 4 Shinkansen rides, plus multiple Ltd. Express trains, it pays for itself ...

    ... Terry looked in one of the side compartments and lifted the bed to look in the engine and didn't see it. We watched some if the TPC and during the rain break decided to check if we could have charcoal fires.
