... prawn curry type dish. We found a spot along the water front and parked up for a few cold beers. It happened to be right where turtles were swimming and feeding. The Aussies apartment was in prime location in centre on the water front so we went back for a few more drinks then Pizza on the beach front. It was the last time wed see them so it was goodbyes then home to bed.

The only movement allowed is when you attempt to make phone calls from your really fancy cell phone, and of course, not-so-subtle flexing of muscles. Also, there is absolutely no swimming under any circumstance. I know this sounds backwards, but it seems that you're only supposed to go in the water, if at all, to make yourself glisten. The brevity of our stay (and our ...

... We were in one of the nicer areas - Ipanema. Beautiful beaches, nice bars and restaurants; the streets are very leafy and green. Quite European in a Spanish sort of way. Friendly people, too, in our experience. Ours was an extremely insulated experience. It would be hard to understate the problems that exist in Rio - the poverty and violence. There are 6,000 murders a year and it´s pretty much expected that you´ll be mugged at some point. We have since met a traveller ...
