Another long-ish day. Got so far up Coyote Flats but decided to turn back to save the risk of damaging the Jeep. Felt good to be back on the road again. Climbing from the Palm Springs Valley on Highway 62 you start seeing more and more Joshua trees on the sides of the highway. We left 62 at Yucca Valley/Village and headed north towards Victorville. However, we did somehow miss Victorville and ended up halfway between Victorville and Barstow when we figured it out-- driving on Highway 18 North ...

We left Fresno, with me driving and headed to the Sequoia National Park. We drove through farming land with lots of almond, peach trees and grapes. I had quickly looked at the map and knew which highway I was supposed to be on, but did not look at which town I was supposed to be heading to and sort of just followed the cars in front and we ended up at a really small town called Reedly.

Nightmare gas stop

Well it's not that bad. We saw cheap gas ($3.72!) so we pulled over. It's 2:44am and we are in the middle of nowhere. The gas station locks their bathroom at night so I guess I'll wait. It's probably a good thing though since now I can't get murdered there. The gas station eerily resembled the set for every horror movie ever. I should've taken a picture. It smells weird here. Actually, it smells weird everywhere in CA that isn't along the ...
