We made it to Samara today. It's special stop for Matt and Steve Wilcox because Steve's daughter-in-law served an LDS mission here and named her first daughter after the city. We arrived around 3 and already had a reservation which meant we saved the hour that we usually spend wandering around the city and running into hotels that don't have room for us. power-steering pump. Anton Gonnisen was attending to his suspension today after
having a leaf-spring come loose, lashed up with wire by a Russian truck driver
on his way into Samara. The Bentley of Tony Strelzow has had a new spring fitted, and Owen Turner
reckons the source of the run of punctures ...

The one hour drive to the border went very smoothly and the formalities took less than an hour, a new record! And so we arrived in Kazakhstan, our new home for the next couple of weeks, with over 3000km of road and piste to cover, visas to procure and heat to be endured.
