    ... we were planning a few days in Taipei before heading south, this would have put us at the bottom of the island just when the typhoon was due to hit (thank god we met him). Anywaaayyyy....we broke our own landspeed record on the trip to Shanghai airport via the famous Maglev Train. We broke the 300mph (431km/h) barrier without even touching the ground. Ro was very excited about this!!!! Originally I was voting for saving £4.50 by just getting the tube instead ...

    ... the one-line-sky, a narrow split in the rock with just a sliver of light coming in through the top. The penultimate stop was the first ravine, which came to a dead end, and the last stop was the cliff of apes. Like much of the surroundings, here it was obvious to see the dead coral which formed the rock of the park. Pushed up by tectonic forces many years ago, the coral is now very dead but very pretty, above ground and striking to look at.

    ... We go into town to have a restaurant meal for lunch, then have noodles and tuna or a cuppa soup for dinner. It is working well. Update- it is now a week since we were in Jialehseui and there has been a typhoon in the area since we left, and we saw on the news that lots of villages in Taiwan had to be evacuated, so we think that Jialehseui would have been too.
