The last days on the farm were really magical. We had a warm goodbye from the children, went swimming in beautiful karst caves for Sonkran the Thai new year and water festival, and were able to meet both Pi Ju and Pi Nong's parents. I have taken away such amazing experiences from the farm. I have learned how to plant and take care of many different fruits, and vegetables that are as strange as the animals that live on this side of the world. I have also ...

... the way on these small islands it was a chilled early night with a few smokes and a bottle of Thai whiskey along with some decent crack before we bedded down ready for the next day.

Up and out early after a good nights rest we searched out the cheapest Kayak we could find on Charlie beach for the day from the local lads at the end of the beach and off we paddled in search of the Emerald cave and a secluded beach we were told is good for snorkeling. Neither of us are ...

... off. The gardens were deserted and within 3 minutes of being there we saw a monitor lizard. Whilst he or she may have been extremely slow plodding across the path into the undergrowth we were slower at getting our camera out :( As we ventured on the signage did little to reassure us, 'Guys be careful of Mosquitos whilst using the urinals', 'beware of falling branches' and 'beware of poisonous plants, animals'. Even more disconcerting was the fact we had to ...

Up and at it

... had to get back, Dad, Mal, John and myself waded into the water and tried whistling and shouting and all sorts of ways of raising attention but sadly no luck. We went out a bit further, and given it was dark it was a nightmare avoiding the rocky patches. What we'd forgotten is that sea urchins come out at night so there was another obstacle to avoid, luckily all of us were unscathed (except John). Thankfully, Cha had heard our cries for help and had got into the dinghy ...
