... are so many mountains that there are no roads. Well the second I got to Ton Sai I was worried that I made a mistake. But part of this trip is that there are no mistakes. Having to jump off a boat in to the water with my luggage to see a beach side with broken down, garbage ridden, torn up buildings and no sign of life I was a little put off. So I walked into “town” and found that is is really just a climbers paradise. There is nothing do to ...

The last days on the farm were really magical. We had a warm goodbye from the children, went swimming in beautiful karst caves for Sonkran the Thai new year and water festival, and were able to meet both Pi Ju and Pi Nong's parents. ... hospital, and no chance of airlifting casualties. We pondered it for a while, and hoped that there were procedures in place for emergencies that we just didn't know about. Little did we know how soon we would find out.

The next morning, bright and early, we set off for the beach. Our short walk was interrupted by the island's coconut man, hard at work in a tree overhanging the path. Not wanting to be hit by an earthbound coconut, we happily stood back and watched ...

Ko Mook, Thailand: Searching for Emerald Cave

A travel blog entry by samber on Dec 07, 2013

... to be steering" "I am bloody steering but I can't see where I'm going. F**king torch". And then we saw a light at the end of the tunnel and we emerged on emerald water into an oasis of lush tropical plants climbing high into the sky. Despite our best efforts I don't think we were able to capture the true beauty of the place on camera. It was a definite plus to not be there when overrun by tourists. Hearing voices in the cave we let a group come ...
