After an eleven hour flight we landed in Bangkok just before 4pm. We decided to join the locals and get a train to Hua Lamphong Station in the centre of the city which looked quite close to our hotel on the map. Whilst waiting for the train I undid my rucksack only to hear a big thud as a 2kg weight fell out onto the platform (thanks Grant for that!). Unfortunatley once Dan had deposited our respective 2kg gifts in the bin (much to the confusion of a couple of nearby locals) our rucksacks did...

Bangkok, Thailand chulaiWell the journey went really well, managed to drop off the car and find the adress alright. We then caught the train to Paddington to meet Dad who took us through to Heathrow on the London underground. We managed to get our backpacks checked in really early at about 6.00pm so we had loads of time. Dad took us for a drink and bought us our last meal in England for a while and it was nice to chill out for an hour or so and calm ourselves down. The plane was on time and the flight was uneventful...
Bankok, Thailand deankezontourIsland life is great, it's hot, the beach is lovely with palm trees and we can hear the sea from our bungalow. It's a nice place to relax and unwind from all the travelling. Not done much except for eating, drinking and generally having nice beach holiday. Although we have been using insect repellent, we both have quite a collection of mozzie bites. The mozzie's here are EVIL. Little *******s, miss a bit and they will get you where you missed. Trying to be careful in the sun with high factor ...
Ko Samui, Thailand deankezontourHi all! Well need to kill some time so thought I'd post a lil note. I got another night train on Saturday night, from Nongkhai (northern border Thailand) right back down to Bangkok. And guess what!!! It took 16 hours!!!!!!!!!!! Shocking.com. Majorly shocking.com! We left at 18:20, should have arrived at 06:30 the next day, I woke up around that time thinking we were probably nearly there.............. erm............. not quite! An hour later, and another, and another... and some more- we fin...
Bangkok, Thailand jento85We arrived into Bangkok Suvarnabhumi airport, which at its full capacity will be the largest airport in Asia! I was a bit gutted, as last time I was in Bangkok, I saw a person play golf between the runways!!! Only in Asia! We had booked a hotel over the internet, so ordered the taxi to it. We arrived at the Royal, which was a throwback to the 1930's! We got to the reception, and gave them our booking confirmation, only to be told we were not booked in. After much debate and argument, we concl...
Bangkok, Thailand marie_mcGot up at 5 in Hanoi on the 29th and went downstairs for breakfast, everyone else was leaving at 6 too so we got to say our goodbyes, I'm sure we will keep in contact with most of them, and there are a few I will probably meet up with at a later date in Oz- may go to Perth with Nicola and Kirsty if there are more jobs there. The airport was quiet, quick, easy and really friendly! The plane had loads of leg room for only an hour and 50 minute flight and we had free food as well! Bit of a scary...
Bangkok, Thailand nicowalaSaturday November 18th Bahrain to Bangkok - Hopped on our 11:00 PM flight from Bahrain to Bangkok. Along the way we watched a movie. An Egyptian comedy called 'Alsayed Abu Alarabi Wasal'. It was in Arabic with English subtitles. It was difficult to follow since they spoke so fast and the translation often did not make sense. But overall, it was entertaining. They fed us a few small meals and soon it was 9:00 AM and we were landing in Thailand's new airport. The terrain was ...
Bangkok, Thailand rbartorilloMonday November 20th Bangkok Got up and after breakfast, we headed out to the US Embassy. We hailed a cab and this time decided to use the meter. We probably should have experimented on a shorter trip, but we figured we would give it a go. This was a bit further than our trip the night before to Patpong. (It seemed like a twenty minute ride). We were surprised to see the meter when we reached the Embassy to read 85 Baht!!!! We were doing the meter from now on! Well, after ...
Bangkok, Thailand rbartorilloSaturday November 25th We were on our way to the Grand Palace again today (havent seen the inside yet). We always seemed to get sidetracked somehow. This time an older guy stopped us and said. No, today only Thai people. He grabbed the map out of my hand and pointed out a few other options. He said, "Listen, I know I am teacher". He pointed out three temples, said they were free today only. Tuk-Tuk will take us and wait for us for about 30 Baht. This is the second time we had heard this and ...
