Tuesday, I set out from Edson to cross the border at Cut Bank, MT. All went well that morning except for the ever present rain around Calgary. Setting off at 6 am, I had good tailwinds and smooooooth air. All went well with CBP and I gassed up and headed off to Townsend.

During the first leg, the oil pressures had been higher than normal, now they were in the yellow. I didn't like that at ...

Today was our last day in Montana, and though we will miss the scenery and the very nice people, we will not miss the "Loose Gravel" road construction. As if Montana knew we were leaving, on the way out of Missoula, we ran across our final "Loose Gravel" road construction. Fortunately it was very short, but it was like Montana was taking it's last shot at us.

After an evening of lighting and thunder we started out Monday with a call from the mechanic to fix the broken leaf spring on the trailer. $220 dollars later the job was finished. I'm so glad that it didn't happen out in the desert on the way to Twin Falls.

With the trailer fix so early in the morning we decided to go site seeing. First we went to the Visitors Center at Perrine Bridge over the Snake river. The walk ...

Was up in time to get some fabulous photos of the sunrise against the Sawtooth Mountains. There was frost on the picnic table, a mist on the water and a full moon still in the sky. Gorgeous! Then I braced myself for Galena Pass at 8701'. Approach seemed very casual but ...

          Summary

Drove 60 miles in 1.5 hours.

          Highlights

It was a beauitiful drive through the Sawtooth Mts south to Sun Valley. The entire journey, largely downhill, was full of captivating views of the snow capped mountain range.

Arriving at the town of Ketchum around lunch time we took a stroll and found a very cool ski town. It didn't seem like a "make believe" town as there was some fantastic history, a hint of celebrity and 64 ...
