Arrived at 8.15 am. Shuttle bus from airport. Spent remainder of day relaxing by the pool and catching up with sleep. Disastrous authentic meal by poolside in the evening. I am not a fussy eater but this was something else. I now definitely know I do not like real chinese food.

The Trip Over or Boy Does My Butt Hurt

A travel blog entry by srtessier

A lot has changed since our last posting. It is Saturday night here in Singapore and Ginger and I just returned to our room. We arrived at our hotel last night (this morning at 3:00AM). We had left LAX about 30 minutes late at about 1:40PM. We then flew 5,500 miles to Tokyo taking us about 12 hours. This portion of the flight was okay except my …

This is Steve: and we are Singapore now in. Three words come to mind immediately. Heat, humidity and handsome. The heat here is amazing even at 1:30 when we land in Singapore. When we first landed we went directly into the air conditioned terminal and it was beautiful and efficient. The terminal is clean, clean and clean besides being new. Very …

Our flight to Singapore

Flight was very good with an excellet cabin crew team. A few passengers were poorly sick, but they were looked after very efficiently. Despite earlier trepidations, we declined a midnight hot meal, managed to get some kip and then had breakfast (it was only morning in the UK) before the descent into Changi Airport, Singapore @ 1840 hrs., local time …

    2 night stopover

Lovely room, pool and cavernous restaurant. Only problem is that it is out of the city centre which means getting a taxi down town and back- not always easy. As we intended to visit the Botanical gardens which are just down the road, it wasn't a problem for us. For first time visitors however I would prefer to stay near the marina

    Traders top class for service

    from GeordieBoy

We stayed at Singapore traders for the first 3 nights of our honeymoon on the 11th july(at ionly 54 pounds for 2 people)..and we found it an absolute joy and delight to stay..first of all first time in singapore and we found the people to be very friendly and the city clean, multi cutural, and vigrant.

We got a taxi back to the hotel which cost about 8 english pounds which was very cheap... To the hotel itself...we were giving free breakfast, a baskt of fruit, and bottle of wine because we were honeymooners...ten out of ten in my book...breakfast was totally awsome in the way you could have english, chinese, japanese, american, korean, buffet styple...everything was freshly made and the restauarants was five star itself.....also swimming, using the spa, sauna, gym, jaccuzzi is also complimentary...the hotel itself is also close to orchard road where all the main shops but i do recommend getting the taxi back as you will do a lot of shopping....dont worry taxi is cheap.. Getting around the city is efficient with the local metro system but we found the taxi more appealing..(come on you are on your honeymoon) We went to sentosa island which we highly recommend and try out the duck tours.......

My advice to anyone is be prepared to shop here as it is quite cheap to buy things i.e electronics esp memory cards, clothes, toys,..we wish we more bought more things as it was much cheaper than the other places we visited on our honeymoon i.e sydney and hawaii.

Overall we loved the hotel...even the hotel star is a missing a little something to be 5 star....we thinks it service do deserve a 5 star..we cant wait to go again!

    Had A Nice Stay

    from anonymous

We stayed at the Traders Hotel for 4 days as a stop-over in April 2005

We stayed in a Club room, which cost a bit extra but was well worth it...it was lovely to have some relaxing free drinks & snacks in the afternoon after a busy day shopping & to have a private area for breakfast. I have to say that the only thing that botherd me was the smokers in the lift area on the upstairs traders floor, smoking inside, right outside the food area. The overall hotel was realy nice, the rooms were small but clean, bright & well appointed. The bathrooms were tiny, but clean. The location of the hotel is a little out of the way but the hotel offers a free shuttle bus & there are taxis everywhere, so you can make your way back at any time. I have to say that the service was just fantastic. I would recommend the hotel, don't expect the ritz!!...it was very comfortable though!

    Fantastic service and facilities

    from Perpetual_Student_NZ

My experience in this hotel was so positive, it has compelled me to compose this; my first ever web-review. My mother and I stayed at Traders Hotel for a total of four nights, and wouldn't hesistate to stay there again. Staff were (somewhat overwhelmingly) helpful and friendly, without expecting gratuities, and worked hard to remember our names to add a 'personal' touch. The hotel provided us with wonderful facilities for the price - including a fantastic pool and well equipped gym. I made use of the spa for a reasonably-priced massage and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Everywhere from the gardens to the lobby, staff could be seen keeping the hotel environs attractive and spotless, and we barely noticed the renovations going on, but do look forward to seeing the new lobby and cafe areas when completed. Great proximity to Orchard Road shopping and the MRT (which will take you everywhere in Singapore).

    Excellent

    from anonymous

Stayed here for 4 nights en route to Bali - upgraded to the "Traders club" for the equivalent of about £25 per room (ie for the two of us) per night - as suggested by others on this site, this gave us breakfast, soft drinks all day & and free alcoholic drinks and snacks 5.00 - 7.30pm.

As well as being good value, we enjoyed the extras & it added to our enjoyment of our stay.

A very good hotel, well located, good service- great shopping - my suit from the the Tanglin Mall - next door - (De Zlin Tailors) arrived home while I was in Bali, & is worth every penny!

We will be going back to Singapore, & to Traders.

    Well run clean and comfortable

Stayed there 14 & 15 Feb 2005. Nice room with all facilities and v helpful staff. Watch out for the drinks prices in Rumpole Bar though.

    Traders Upgrade

    from Chowarahelp

We've just spent 4 days at "Traders" on our way to the Maldives and would recommend it to anyone for position, staff efficiancy and cleanliness.

We upgraded to the "Traders club" for $60 (Sing), which whilst the rooms where a bit small gave you breakfast, free soft drinks all day and free alcoholic drinks and snacks 5.00 - 7.30pm, well worth it when one and a half pints of Lager cost $33 (sing) in the bar!!

Orchard Road is only a 5 minute walk (although they provide a free shuttle bus) from where you can catch the MRT - very fast, cheap and reliable - to any where in the city.

A hotel we would use again should we ever return to Singapore.

    Great Business/Pleasure hotel

    from Kate1h

Have just come back from Singapore and thought I'd jot a note to fellow travellers to try this hotel. The rooms are quite clean, modern and extremely comfortable. The staff go out of their way to see that your every need is taken care of. The swimming pool is a joy and much needed with the heat and humidity. The food served at their buffet breakfast and Traders club is very good and gives you quite a flavor of the East. They are connected to the Tanglin Mall, which is next to the Post office, which is on the same block up the street to the Embassy offices. The Singapore Tourism board is right across the street, you are off of the noise and bustle of Orchard street, but a mere few blocks walk to get to it. Taxi's-right outside your door and will be scheduled to pick you up exactly when you want. They also have a very good restaurant which we were too busy to try-maybe next time.

    Great stay

Great hotel in a good location of Singapore. Lovely swimming pool and fitness facilities. Very helpful staff. Recommended.

    Very comfortable

    from anonymous

We stayed here as a 1 night stopover on our way to Australia in October 04.

The hotel was very clean and comfortable and quite close to the many shopping centres on Orchard Road (a short taxi ride) The pool area looked very nice lit up at night, although we weren't here long enough to try it out.

A great location and a lovely city. We would stay here again.

    Very comfortable

    from anonymous

My husband and I stayed at this hotel March 2004. Located in a great area of Singapore and very close to Orchard Road, which is superb for shopping. The hotel is gorgeous and the staff exceptionally friendly. Would not recommend upgrading to club class as the lounge did not have enough tables and felt a bit stuffy. The beds are one of the best we have ever slept in. All round a very good hotel. Whilst in Singapore take the time to visit the Japanese and bonzi gardens they are absolutley fantastic and well worth spending a good half day at.
