The hotel is nice and clean.

If you leave your shoes in a basket, they will shine them for you at no cost.

They gave us a transformer so we could convert power to charge up our computers, phones, and camera batteries.

The hotel was completely sold out so we had two smaller beds instead of one big one. Sharing the smaller bed was a bit tight.

Breakfast was a comedy of errors.

We all woke up at 5:00am!!

We dressed warm for weather between 45 - 55 degrees. The breakfast buffet was huge -- the biggest we have ever had. Besides Western food such as omelets, french toast, waffles, etc., they had a large area with Asian specialties like dumplings. A great surprise and bonus was the great coffee. We thought we would …

WOW - it is easy to see why this is one of the great wonders of the world. To stand atop this wall and view the winding path and turrets ahead amidst the tree covered mountains is amazing. It really does take your breath away. I have travelled to many magnificent cities & sites around the world but it would be very hard to equal this. I'm sure …

Today was a BIG day for both the little & 'the big kids' in the group. We started off at the Summer Palace, then Tiananmen Square, on to the Forbidden City - it is hard to put in words these experiences. They say 'a picture tells a thousand stories' so I will let you enjoy our experiences through the photos. Our day concluded with a Kung Fu …

Yet another round of farewells with No 4 Principal and teachers gathering at hotel to say a final farewell. An uneventful bus ride with Coco on board to give us the required commentary on the way to the airport. As all airports, check-in and security a routine bore before getting through to the relaxation of the gate side. A KFC provided a welcome …

Arriving in Beijing, we picked up our luggage and went through customs smoothly. I had been unsure wether my appearance or name would cause any issues, given China's problems with its muslim minorities. However, after filling out the very small arrival cards, we went through with no issues. We even got to press buttons to give feedback via a bank …
