We arrived in Beijing at 6pm. What a magnificent looking airport. The new terminal recently opened in time for the Olympics, and is truly a sight. The parking structure is also amazing to look at and is beautiful in its architecture. We met our guide, Evelyn (her chosen name in English) and our driver, Mr. Tien. On our way to the hotel, we drove past the Olympic venues - The Bird's Nest and The Cube. We checked in at the Trader's Hotel where each family got two rooms. Since this night was not...
Beijing, China nadine818The Trader's Hotel has a HUGE buffet with all kinds of items from which to choose and have set the bar high. We begin the day by stuffing ourselves since we don't know what lunch will provide. You'd think that Collin and Lauren wouldn't get another meal... Evelyn meets us in the hotel at 8am to begin our day of touring. We drive past the Olympic venues again. We're glad we get to see it all before all the people arrive for the Olympics. I can't imagine what it will be like in August. Our firs...
Beijing, China nadine818Nee Hoa from Beijing. Well, we made it from one country to the next. Today's our first day in Beijing and before I start writing about Beijing, I better talk about Tokyo before too many days goes by and I forget. Let's see, the second day in Tokyo was very busy and hectic. We had a 7am pick up time for our full day tour and anyone who knows how much I hate to wake up, I actually made it and am very proud of myself when it comes to early wake up calls when traveling. We even had a traditional ...
Beijing, China panidavGood Morning...It's 8:15am and this was written at 2 this morning but the upload took FOREVER!! We do hope you enjoy. HAPPY NEW YEAR 2009 from Beijing! It's almost two a.m. and we just got back from another day of fun filled adventure. For this blog, I'm actually going to write about our New Year's Eve merriment while it is so fresh in my mind. Thank goodness I had a two hour nap this afternoon. If I was to write about our day too, I'd be here until the sun comes up. : > ) We started off o...
Beijing, China panidavBeijing recap. It is 11:30pm on January 1, 2009 and Tami and I finally have a little break from our travels. We actually have a quiet night tonight to reflect and warm up from our three days in Beijing. We hope everyone had a safe New Year's Eve celebration and by the time you read this, you have recovered and/or remembered your night. We started off in Beijing meeting our hostess Eicco and went to our first "tourist" stop. A tea house. Tami was in HEAVEN! If anyone do not know what a tea hou...

"The master's condition will not allow delay," said Cao with an air of complacency. "It would be best if you let me return to the town to get the medicine."

"Sister," Xu said, "Take a small piece of firewood and burn it to charcoal, then let him write on a piece of rough paper. If that can't be done, you ...
Beijing, Beijing, China ormationis... fruit or something, so I took some clementines and chocolate... and hoped that that was fine! I'm really enjoying meeting with this girl every saturday, since I think she's really sweet and fun, and so I have a good time and keep busy, and I also happen to get paid for. It's a nice deal :). Other than that, not much is new here, and no serious plans for the coming week. We're all starting to think about planning for a trip during the winter vacation, since it ...
Beijing, China katietravels... photos of the roof where you could clearly see the astronomical instruments and the information boards were also in English (such a common think even here in China). Then I walked back to the bus stop at the World Trade Center. A long walk....probably 3 miles....thankfully the bus was 25 min late because I got there 5 min before the bus did. Worked out fine. I bought a clossaine vase for Lynn at the hotel shop and then packed for my flight home in the morning.
Beijing, China carlton... need to find a coat (if you don't know i made loads of lists of stuff to pack before i left ticked everything off and then promptly left my coat on the banister in my mums house) and see some shops so radomly jump off the bus. Ask some french people who got off at the same place where we did and they don't seem to have a clue either. Look around the shops for a bit and then stumble onto a famous night market in beijing. Every part of an ...
