    Arrived in Abu Dhabi

Arrived 3am and it's a lovely hotel. Spent first day wandering around the Shangri La souk and then the Marine Mall for lunch. Back for a swim in the pool - like being in the bath and its 47 degrees - like being in an oven! Then a visit to the Grand Mosque where I had to wear an abaya. It was so hot walking around but so cool inside the white marble mosque. Finished my first day with a paddle and temp has dropped to 42! Drinking water like it's going out of fashion!

    The Longest Day Transit

The trip from Paris to Abu Dhabi wasn't particularly pleasant. We both had chesty coughs, the cabin was as hot as our hotel room in Amiens, and the seating arrangement wasn't very comfortable or roomy. To make matters worse I suffered leg cramps in both legs during the night. We arrived in Abu Dhabi not having slept during the flight and it's no understatement to say we were feeling not so flash. 30 degrees at 6.30am! Despite only transiting, we had a 14 hour wait for ...

... do in Abu Dhabi, when we got to the hotel we thought maybe just staying at the hotel would be great! It is amazing. So modern and fancy. There are 5 restaurants, heaps of different bars, 3 pools. Our room overlooks the race track & marina. No mountains, but a great view just the ...

... sanitised than the old Dubai ones but at least that meant you could look without being too harassed. Our companions soon made some friends of the stall holders but we only got a half smile for our one purchase.....a fridge magnet! We were then dropped at the Emirates Palace, Abu Dhabi's 7 star hotel, where we were able to marvel at the real gold used almost everywhere in the lobby area, as with the Souks the many Rolex watches on display had no prices! ...

... fast way south to the Brno, almost no cars at the D1 (one of the most discussed and most used highway in Czech Republic), it looks we will be there on time. Now I’m going to sleep again, "good night".

9AM Brno and totally amazing sunny day. Hopefully the weather will remain or will be better for rest of the trip :) First task for this trip: find toilets with no charge or at least where they can handle payment of 5 CZK by 200 CZK ...
