    ... this time heading for the city of Naruto, a few miles north. In Japan, apart from being the name of a long-running anime series, Naruto is famous for its whirlpools under the bridge that links the islands Shikoku and Honshu.

    The whirlpools are caused by the tide powerfully rushing in and out through the narrow Naruto Straight, according to Wikipedia the currents can get up to 12 miles per hour, making them the 4th fastest in the world!

    ... part of the afternoon to walk the route. The weather held off for little old me, until the end. At temple 5 I bought what seemed like cheap oranges. Great I said to myself. At least until I tried one. They were very bitter, and it was a pain to eat them. (The locals like them though as I managed to give the bag to the owners of my hostel.).     ... had soba and grilled river trout and was treated to cookies by the super nice staff while I waited for the bus back to Oboke. Then There was a boat ride and a mega walk up a hill with creepy ghost statues, chatty oba sans that gave me candy and I even saw a tanuki! Then onsen at the hotel and back for a giant vegan dinner.     We eventually did make it to takamatsu and, as it was getting late, we made another mad dash to fit in a trip to Ritsurin park. At this point we were still lugging our big backpacks around, but unfortunately, when we got to the park we couldn't fit our packs into one locker.
