... o'clock service. Meals were with pilgrims , so I ate with an older father daughter and a loud laughing bald guy in his yukata. Breakfast was at 6 and then they were off walking again. I am realizing that one of the most important phrases to understand is ,'Are you travelling alone?', I get asked that alot! Oh, Forgot, I stopped in Kotohira on the way to Oboke and climbed to a temple and took an udon noodle making ...

The youth hostel had closed of course but there was a budget Inn opposite the train station. While waiting for the weather to clear up ...

... looked 60 - tops! So that's the truth of the day, climb people! Climb! Me and mr mountain hiker walked together for approx 5hrs. My umbrella worked great as walking stick at tough spots. And as a shield against the sun. But most if all I found out it would be great against snakes. Because yup, the mountain was full of highly poisonous and dangerous 'Mamushi', a viper that bit around 3000ppl per year. So camping on the ground was out if the question. Instead there was a henro ...

... enjoyed the absence of noise and nuisance. I did what I do best. Just let my feet guide themselves onto any road, path or alley that they felt like walking on. And they led me straight to a shop that sold pilgrim gear. What luck. Much cheaper than the temple shops I had read about online. And also I got my first pilgrim gifts of this journey. A cup of tea and 3 packets of incense sticks. How lovely! Found rare outdoor seating at Cafe Hats Espressivo and almost licked the ...
