... we would be served an egg and toast but no – we had soup & salad and egg & ham, fruit & yogurt as well as toast, oh and coffee too. Most lunches we would eat at a restaurant at an average price of about $8 each. For dinners we would ride our bikes to a grocery store where they would have a large selection of tasty meals made up in the deli. That usually only cost about $5 each. We took these back to our large deck and enjoyed dinners there. ...

... stopped at Hoyoland onsen where you can enjoy a mud bath and your typical onsen. There are inside and outside mud bath. We could not take any pictures but I can tell you that it was a nice relaxing experience that made our skins very soft ;) Back at the hotel, as we just did not have enough onsens for today, we went to the outdoor bath at the hotel ;) Then dinner was served in our room: another banquet of delicious seafood. ... up close because the tide was low. We then decided to hike up to the top of the island. Wow! This was a great hike, the prettiest hike I've ever done. Along the way we visited other shrines and we were able to witness a private ceremony. Cool! We continued to hike up to 2000 feet on stairs alone!!!! It was tough, but we did it. And it was worth it! The views from the observatory were incredible. We decided to take the cable car down and that was also cool! Our next stop ...

... like this. These places are definitely not vulgar. The Japanese seem to be very discreet. We have not seen any public display of affection. We've seen holding hands, but that's it. In Beppu, we got to sleep in a Tatami. Places like this seem to be less expensive. It was good. I liked it. To end our trip in Beppu we went to the Global Tower for a view of the city. This structure is super cool. I'll let you see the pictures... Now, on to ...
