... Hiroshima is now a thriving city. Our hotel was in a central location and we were able to find good food. Check Linus out cooking us some Japanese BBQ! Awesome! Oh and the shopping, well, I'm just trying to keep it under control! The next day we went to Miyajima. Miyajima is an island near Hiroshima, a 10 min. ferry ride. This place is best known for a Torii shrine in the water. Maybe you've seen this before. We arrived in the morning and were able to walk and see ...

... was impressive. We got some beautiful views of the city from the top tower. We also had our first Japanese tea ceremony! We learned etiquette and enjoyed our biscuit and matcha tea! We are definitely taking some home! Kumamon is a black bear and he's Kumamotos mascot. He was created in 2010 as a way to promote the city. ... have never experienced an onsen, and it was great! We entered the building and paid for a towel. We asked for a big towel, which ended up the size of a tea towel, I guess the small size must have been a facecloth!

Men and women bathed separately at our Onsen and there is something really liberating about getting naked in a pool of really hot water with a few women, chatting about this and that. The process of getting into the water is quite stylised, with small ...

We've had an amazingly epic adventure and are feeling very mixed emotions! Our last day was as extreme as Japan seems to be. The hotel owner very kindly offered us a five minute drive to see Mount Fuji this morning before we headed off to tokyo. An extraordinary mountain and active volcano which last erupted in 1708. It has quite an impact with its beautiful curving sides and ...
