... to the mountain had been closed, the cruise and cable car were closed due to unsafe conditions. We at least had a nice lunch. After taking us up to another, lower mountain lift that was still being run, the tour guide tried to describe how beautiful Mt. Fuji is when you can see it. (It is amazing, Mt. The alarm rings at 6am today: time to do some serious hiking! Despite the bad weather forecasts, we decided to try the ascent to Mt Ryugatake, which is just 1,500 mt high and it should be a loop of 5 hours. The summit of Mt Fuji is wrapped into a round cloud today and more dark clouds are approaching. We take the bus which, after 1 hour, leaves us at Lake Motosu, the start of the walk. Our mountain is the only one with really scary weather around it..but since there's not ...

... around the surrounding areas and it seemed maybe I'd found a nice spot to see out the remainder of golden week, the Izu peninsula is normally bypassed by a lot of tourists on the Shinkansen travelling to or from Tokyo, on a suggestion from the staff I headed to the local beach at 6 am to take part it some drag net fishing, ( a huge net is set in the bay then hauled ashore by about a hundred people) it was mainly a local tourist type activity and on ...
