      ... gave him the advantage, however most of the time the shear mass of the larger(fatter) fighter overpowered his adversary(see picture). It was a great experience to see sumo wrestling in person as it is such a culturally interesting part of Japanese life and it was a good way to spend a day off my feet.       ... its famous ancient cedar trees, some of which are between 3,000 and 7,000 years old!! We climbed mountains, gazed at waterfalls, snapped a photo shoot with the local wildlife and got wet (the locals say it rains 370 days a year).       What a beautiful day! We awoke to sunshine and calmer seas as we sailed into Fukuoka's port. This is the first sun we have seen since leaving the unusually nice weather of Alaska.

      ... a splendid dockside farewell — a troupe of drummers and flute players entertained us with a very spirited performance. Everyone was on deck to cheer and applaud these energetic young people. They drummed us away while we saluted them with three blasts from the Amsterdam’s horn.
