We have loaded up the car with room to spare. Anxiety and excitement have been swirling since bedtime yesterday. We put the kiddles to bed with hugs and kisses and secret intentions.

Paul and I have been on a "24" marathon since last weekend. Season 1. We watched 6 hours straight last Sunday. We were absent parents for 6 hours. It's so good. Jack is crack. When you ...

16 days living out of a suitcase sounds overwhelming. it doesn't have to be. We choose to live out of drawers in our car. No suitcases. I've started packing rubbermaid drawers with outfits for the everyone. I roll outfits together for easy grabbing. You don't need 16 days really. 8 days is doable with laundry possibilities. Each of us carries a backpack to take into the hotel. We just place clean clothes in the ...

... to these long drives!!) so we stopped a few times on the way home:
    - Kmart (since we needed a potty break anyway!)
    - Cincinnati Premium Outlets in Monroe (sadly, all we walked away with was a pair of shorts from Columbia)
    - KFC in Kentucky (OMG it was SO gooooood!! Who knew KFC was sooo much better in Kentucky?!)
    - Teppanyaki Grill Buffet in Michigan, near airport (our favorite buffet ...

Iowanna go to the State Fair

A travel blog entry by ahousey on Jul 13, 2014

... to Des Moine in the morning and eat at the fair. We can either have lunch there or travel on to Davenport for a late lunch which is another 2 hours +. That's four hours knocked off. We can either drive and stop one more night or cruise the last 6 hours home and get home early. Isn't a State Fair a total Iowa thing to do. :)

The countdown is on. A couple more weeks. Can't wait.

It's SUMMERtime in the Great Smoky Mountains

A travel blog entry by elainesj on Jul 12, 2014

... made it to our cabin! We were so excited to walk in. The place was beautiful. The photos really don't do the place justice. Very nicely decorated with leather recliner couches and deeply cushioned lounge chairs on the deck. 5 bedrooms on 3 levels meant we had plenty of room to spread out. And they they were pet friendly and welcomed Dim Sum ($30 pet fee).Check out the video we made when we first entered the cabin.
