Day Seven - Georgia On My Mind
... houses in these hamlets tended to be very small, cabin style or trailers. Later in the day, I did see mansions on acreages with small lakes in their front lawn. One section of the journey across Georgia (approximately 1.5 hours) was on a two lane road that was raised (no shoulders) with swamp on both sides of the road. On the road again
... decide to leave....but we still aren't ready for it to end, so we went to Fort Frederica. In 1742, Spanish and British forces clashed on St. Simons Island. Fort Frederica's troops defeated the Spanish, ensuring Georgia's future as a British colony. See, we can learn a little something on vacation. :)
I guess its time to leave. So much fun. Time goes by so quickly ...
Beaches
... as we could carry. Hoping to make some souvenirs.
Ran down to Driftwood beach for some awesome pictures. The trees wrap around the secluded beach, almost like a tree graveyard. The mosquito's were eating us up, so we decided to end our day. Came back and went on a nice midnight bike ride.

Today was another rainy day, but we didn't let that stop us. We took a trolley tour of the island. A lot of cool history here. We learned all about the members of the Jekyll Island Club. A lot of notable names were in the club. Mostly because you had to be invited or nominated to be a member. So all the members were extremely wealthy.
