... of the National Historic Landmark District, including many of the mansions their millionaire owners called “cottages”. On Thurs, 27 March we enjoyed the tram tour through the Historic District and going inside a couple of the cottages. Unfortunately we were unable to take any photos inside any of the homes. After our tour we were treated to a wonderful Brunch at the Jekyll Island Club Hotel.
Day 28 was a travel day, but our group stopped en route at Okefenokee Adventures for lunch and boat ride through the Okefenokee Swamp After lunch we had time to go to the visitors center to see a film about the area, visit gift shop or just walk around. love love love this island. it is beautiful and peaceful. the whole island is state park, even though there are homes and inns and hotels on the island. there are no traffic lights and you can only drive 35 mph. several wonderful restaurants, beautiful golf courses, a bike path that goes around the entire island, through the live oaks, marshes, sand dunes, beaches. there is a museum and it offers trolly rides that will take you into some of the "cottages" as ...
