We left Brisbane on Monday morning in bright sunshine and landed in an overcast and showery Sydney. Caught the train into Circular Quay and had lunch in the Guylian cafe at The Rocks.

Today, we reserved some time after breakfast to travel by ferry to Alcatraz, just off San Francisco harbour. We checked the official national park website, and found out we should catch a dedicated ferry off Pier 33, so we headed there after breakfast.

Cost was $30 each, which included the ferry to and from, entrance to Alcatraz and a self-guided audio tour that they provide to everyone on arrival. Couldn't believe the small cells (5' wide x 7' deep x 7' high), with a ...

We dropped the bike back and Michael picked us up and enjoyed dinner with him and Annalee.
Next morning Michael gave us a grand tour of silicon valley including Apple, Linkedin and dropped us at the train.
We had a day strlling arround San Fran and are now heading home

We got the hang of public transportation quickly in San Francisco. We rode a bus and then a streetcar to get where we were going both days we were in the city. The streetcars and many buses in San Francisco are electric. Very cool! The streetcars are very awesome because a) they look so retro and b) they are from cities all over the country and a few from other countries, too (we rode twice in streetcars from Italy).
