      ... The wooden boardwalk has been replaced by a concrete path that runs right along the coast. A lot of the houses have been reconstructed, this time they are up on high piers. A safeguard of any more hurricanes that will no doubt one day happen.

      A quick trip through Mississippi and we were now entering Alabama where we were to stay for two nights before heading into Florida for the weekend to see our lovely young friend get married.

      From the Florida panhandle, we began our jaunt along the Gulf coast, stopping for a night in Mobile, AL. Now to be honest, we hadn't really been planning on this stop originally. That arctic freeze in Florida ended up changing our route and once again, we were very grateful for the serendipity that allowed us to discover the USS Alabama memorial park.       Day 356-357 - 4/21/14 - Today we left New Orleans and headed to Mobile. Passed Lake Pontchartrain, (3rd Largest in the USA), Irish Bayou (sounds scary) and Pass Christian (just like the name) on our way into the city.
