    More family

Yet another set of quiet days. We headed in the right direction to skip construction traffic. Also, after some looking we managed to find a spot to stop for Southern Food (family here always goes for chains, this time I wanted to actually have some so we stopped BEFORE hand). Mary's Southern Kitchen, I think was the name. Very good, and very happy we stopped, also managed to get a lunch for the next day out of it (thanks to the amount of food).

... I felt like I had stepped back in time. There were no other houses, cars or people in sight only lots of lovely animals. The dog Deuce and goat came up to the verandah to greet us and Freddie was immediately entertained...thank God! The donkeys, horses, goats and sheep all came to the fence to be fed every evening. It was so nice to see the kids enjoy really simple things such as feeding the animals. Freddie I think could even make a good farmer! We decided to check out ...

... I crossed Blue Angels Blvd and passed the main gate for Pensacola Navel Air Station, home of the Blue Angels. I should have turned around and taken a picture. The main gate is painted the blue and gold colors of the Blue Angels. I kick myself now. I continued following 292/Gulf Breeze Parkway to Perdido Key Drive, also 292, for miles of beautiful riding along the beach. My stomach started telling ...

... nicer anyway. After all, my clothes really wouldn’t matter as soon as they got me talking. Once the cat stories roll out there really isn’t any turning back.

    And they did…

To my surprise they agreed with some of my cat-parenting logic. Well, enough to not kick me out of their house. I have a feeling after I left they may have tried some of the research on their dogs, but I may never know.

    The visit didn’t ...

Mobile and first voyage on the ocean

Yesterday morning, we left our snug little anchorage to head for the ocean. Because our friend's boat had only one functioning engine at this point, we cruised at a slower pace. Fortunately for us all, the weather was warm and balmy with only light headwinds and the temperature almost reached 80, meaning we could shed shoes and jackets. We began to see seagulls, egrets, and brown pelicans as well as palmetto plants and Spanish Moss. We saw so many barges as we got closer ...
