... to the real thing. When I got out of the car at the top I felt really weird, not lightheaded or dizzy, just weird! For most of my family and friends, you are probably wondering why I came all this way to find out I'm weird! Patrick and Keezie walked about another hundred feet in elevation. So post office ( natch) first thing and nearby on a large office door, I saw a lawyer's brass name panel with the logo of a pair of boxing gloves! Then off by light rail to Golden 'Watch for wildlife' on road sign - funny ! Golden was proper old low key western style town -not Disneyfied in any way and housing the Colorado School of Mines and Victorian American mountaineering centre and Buffalo Bill's tombstone. I liked it because there were many leafy unmarked roads ...

      What A Country!

A travel blog entry by burtonll on Oct 13, 2012

... Olympia, and Juneau. And I’m amazed that so much of the land, and the resources, that make up our country is found in a rather small number of states. Think of it. Think oil: Alaska and North Dakota. Think coal: Montana and Wyoming. Think wheat, and corn, and sunflowers: Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota. Think of all the food grown in California’s San Joaquin Valley. I have observed these wonders from the driver’s seat of the Scion. I ...
