12F when we awoke can't imagine what 75F even feels like any more. Packed up the car and headed to the airport with our car and house sitter Miss Elizabeth in tow. Our flight was delayed slightly by de-icing however we were soon in the air and heading to warmer climates. Checked in at the hotel (bags all arrived!) ...

... for Tel Aviv on Sunday :) I found out yesterday I'll be living in an apartment with 10 other people. It's going to be insane and beautiful. My work is less than half a mile from my apartment, so I can walk or bike there in less then 10 minutes. I'm super relieved! But before that comes, I'm off to spend a couple days in the big city. Sending love and kisses to all of you. Know that I carry you with me where ever I go.

2 hours later we return the bikes and walk a mile up to the Eastern Market, which we find out is the largest farmer’s market in America. We are there late in the afternoon and the vendors are semi packing up and the 5 mile ...

... realization that Detroit really was in trouble. Here we were downtown in a BIG historic American city and 1) the People Mover was relatively empty, 2) there were MANY empty office buildings throughout, and 3) burned structures were everywhere. It made me really sad to see such a beautiful and historic place nearly abandoned and falling apart.

Back at the hotel, we picked up the car from valet and drove down Jefferson Blvd. to the Pewabic Pottery store. Along the way we ...
