Home, sweet home

... time - I've felt guilty being from the DC area and having never paid Ben's a visit. The long Metro ride was well worth it - we both had chili half smokes and enjoyed the go go music playing throughout our stay at the lunch counter. We hopped back on Metro to get back home before mom returned from a half day of work, only to get caught in a Metro mechanical failure. The trains were running only on one track, which ...

Happily delayed in Dulles.

... flight, however, looked to have much better chances. Not to mention, there is always a good chance of getting rebooked into full-fare Y, which means a 50% class of service EQM bonus. So all and all, I was pretty happy. I headed to the RCC to get rebooked. I tried to reroute via FRA, but that flight was already oversold, and I couldn't convince the agent to manually put me on it. So I ended up on the 946pm. That gave me a couple hours in Dulles ...

Mandatory Monuments in Washington DC

... Society states that, The memorial, designed by Henry Bacon, after ancient Greek temples, stands 190 feet long, 119 feet wide, and almost 100 feet high. It is surrounded by a peristyle of 38 fluted Doric columns, one for each of the thirty six states in the Union at the time of Lincoln's death. The north and south side chambers contain carved ...

In the beginning...there was DC???

... Everything was sleeping except for the Pandas, and ground hogs. Besides that it was free and awesome! I had a fabulous time today and am now enjoying a cold beer back at our friend's house and soon we will go to dinner at a Lebanese restaurant. Tomorrow I have no idea what we are doing during the day...but we fly! That's all I want is to get out of the US I CAN"T WAIT! It is very hard for me to enjoy DC because I can't stop thinking about Europe!

Day one of Madison's visit

... but couldn't really get a good look. She noticed all the flags on Embassy Row so I pointed out some of the embassies, like Norway, Great Britain, Brazil, and then the vice president's residence. We made our way to Armand's pizza for dinner before heading home to my place. I think the highlight was there was not any snow on the ground. She seemed really happy about that.

The Poet? Don't You Know it?

... funniest, and most spontaneously interesting man I ever knew. He certainly loved to talk, especially about himself. I was lucky to have him as an uncle and friend." Dr. Wolfe passed away late last evening following a brief bout of explosive diarrhea. His family and friends (not including any of the 17 children he sired during his travels, nor his 7 ex-wives) were at his side, adding only that, "He will be missed. Sometimes, anyway."

Don't Fly USAirway!!

... bad feeling with people in Puerto Rico at all, I think I just won't take another cruise leaving from San Juan ever again. At least if I'm trapped (after the cruise is over)in Fort Lauderdale or New Orleans, I can always take Greyhound home, instead paying $500 per night inflated hotel fee (in which you know your favorite airline will always find any excuse not to pay for it)...

"Life is a Glorious Adventure, Or Nothing"

Dear Friends and Family: This journal entry is long over due as I have now been here approximately 40 days and my last entry was just four days after arrival. This is a very lengthy entry, but if you stick with it, I think you might find some inspiration, a little entertainment, and just something different. My writing includes mainly stories so you can probably skim and find one that speaks to you. I think you'll like them. And also, before I begin - please accept my ...

This one time at summer camp...

... much the same, just little bubbas stuck in small concrete cages. So we whizzed through that place in a good 45 mins - and that's stretching it. So after leaving fairly frustrated after wasting what limited time in Washington we had, we headed towards the subway to begin our master plan. Justin and Steve, in all their genius had thought that in order to get the most out of Atlanta we should do the 12 hour drive at night, so as to arrive in the morning and have all that day to go ...
