    ... good to be home.Summary:

    7/23-8/9 (18 days)
    7,593 total miles
    20 different states
    24 total states (we rode thru Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and of course Pa. twice - when we went out and when we came back)
    Averaged about 9 1/2-11 hours a day in saddle (except 1 day in San Francisco)
    2 tender butts, red faces and tired bodies.
    One VERY dirty bike
    A mountain of laundry
    Too many bills to count

    He hit the road right after grabbing a bite and filling up the gas. We have about a 4 to 5 hour drive ahead of us and I'm determined to do it in less. I am amazed at how beautiful the state of New York is. I think you always think of the city and forget about the state. We came through Geneva and Seneca valley on the way to Watkins glen.     ... we made it to the trailhead.) Along the way we passed the large family that is thru-hiking, they have about 10 people total in their group :). We also passed the boy scout group, they only have 6 miles to hike tomorrow, congratulations to all of them, they had fun, and are looking forward to another hike soon - possibly the Grand Canyon Of P.A.! We made camp early, pumped water and then sat and chatted with everyone. Is good having a group around again! Oh yea, ...

    Woken by alarm. However, I had alarm set for 8.30 instead of 7.30 and Gab already gone for the van before we woke. I had reheated pasta and cold pizza from last night for breakfast. Left about 10 to go to Palmerton Pennsylvania to see our friend Steve Obremski. GPS 'Judy Garmon' took us on lots of back roads as well as highways.
