Goodbye noisy polluted amazing New York, here I am, in a lovely town not far from Hudson where my Amtrak train arrived. My friend Phil came to pick me up, I will stay 4 nights with him and his family.

The house is beautiful, and a sign indicates the given name: "Linker Oever", ...

... fantastic new showers and is out of the town noise. There is 1 hr free wifi. The grocery store is a short walk, and so is the public library with free internet and air conditioning in this 100F heat. Sadly this is another town with a lot of empty store fronts and a sense of great loss from what it used to be. There are very impressive huge churches, rambling old mansions and more industry- you can tell that ...

... appealing to do it with a lot of people around. So at the suggestion of our host, David, at 26 Warren B&B, we opted to start the day visiting High Falls Conservation Area in Philmont– it’s an off-the-radar hiking area with a beautiful waterfall. This area could certainly be the subject in a painting by an artist of the Hudson Valley School of Painting. Going there, standing before this ...
