... the house, and set everything up for being gone for two weeks. This year that included, but was not limited to, finding new homes for the boys' pet turtles (it was on the agenda anyway, why not do it before we leave?), putting our 13 year old cat to sleep (see previous note), and arranging a house sitter (the simplest of the three tasks!).

  • If you order a meal to go, say you want "takeaway" or they won't understand.
  • Always carry chapstick in Scandinavia! It's cold and incredibly dry.
  • When you pay for a meal, the waiter brings a cash purse to your table to give you change.
  • Danes wear a lot of dark colors, mostly black. My coworker said it is just to blend in, but it accents the cold weather. I didn't see many vibrant clothes ...
