... was full of sunny vistas and a setting sun. We arrived at Jackson Lodge just before sundown and booked into our room which is the nicest we've stayed in - it has it's own balcony overlooking the White Mountains. Just enough time for us to grab a drink and some ice before bed! The Notch is almost 12 miles in length and impressively filled with rock cliffs, rivers, gorges, lakes, and all sorts of hikes (some part of ...

Mt Washington, located the White Mountains of New Hampshire, is the tallest mountain in the Northeast. It is one of America's top ten most dangerous mountains to hike. At the summit, the highest ever wind was recorded at 231mph.

So, we got the deets and gear we needed, and prepared for our hike.

We started at the Pinkham Notch Visitors Center on ...

... side. First, Hayley whipped up a delicious spaghetti bolognese for dinner, which we enjoyed on the back deck of the cottage. Lucky Owen! Second, Larry, the owner of the cottage, agreed to let Owen borrow his hiking boots. How fitting that Larry wears the same size shoe as Owen. And the luck keeps going. Yvonne, Larry's wife, wears the same size shoe as Hayley. Equipped with our apparel and map for tomorrow's hike, we called it a relatively early night, and retired ...
