... tad tipsy, and who can blame us a good 20 wines sampled and another winery to go. And so swag in the boot we headed onwards to our final stop, Constable Estate Winery, to be greeted by a life size cast iron cow in the tasting room; Matilda. And that is the basis for the name of their wines. We were met by who you might describe as a typical Aussie "no ****" Jen who proceeded to fill us up with more wine, whilst making fun of us, and telling hilarious stories ...

It was not a long walk to the summit but worth taking time over: the first part was along a neat red-brick pathway, eucalyptus trees with their silvery-green leaves shimmering in the sunshine on every side. The air seemed very clear and I was sure I could occasionally catch the scent of the eucalyptus: very refreshing! ... All the wines we tried were gorgeous!!!! But even better we had this really throaty, "camp" woman telling us about the wines. At the end, she admired my haircut, saying she was a hairdresser and then it all fell into place. So that's why she was such a good judge of character and so talkative. Hairdressing is great training for that!
There was a beautiful old dog at the winery that greeted us and leant up against Jess to be patted.

... we ate well, drank a bit and spent a lot of time on the beach. Beercan chicken, damper bread, lime and coconut prawns, fresh lobster..... we had a french couple staying with us and each day we'd come home to cakes and flans all delicately prepared in our kitchen. For Christmas spirit there were xmas carols in the park in the evening complete with fireworks. Not sure though that Santa hats with white vested Aussie blokes really sets christmas up here ...
