Ferrara, Emilia-Romagna, Italy benitalutzShort train ride from Florence after a hair raising trip trying to return the rental car in confusing, congested and traffic restrictied Florence (don't rent a car downtown go to the airport). Bologna is an university town (even Johns Hopkin has a campus). Very historical town with a great plaza area like most towns and a great antique market.
Bologna, Emilia-Romagna, Italy pathenger... cabbies, who would not take us, we found a gypsy cab and Mandi bargained him down to a 35 euro ride home. And that's how we ended up blasting along the very roads we had biked earlier, in a random cab just hoping to get home. And we did, he dropped us off right in front of our door.

The next day, we were headed for the Cinque Terre, and I'll tell you more about that in the next.

Jael
Ferrara, Emilia-Romagna, Italy jaeleli... there was a free breakfast buffet which we took full advantage of. We didnt really do much in the actual city of Bologna. We more or less used it as a base to get to other places for day trips, returning to the city to eat and sleep. The food was great; we had our first pizza in Italy and it was tasty.... its fun knowing that things like pizza are only going to get better when we get closer to its point of origin (Napoli)
Bologna, Emilia-Romagna, Italy brandonandryan... the inside.

The next day, before heading to Venice, we made a quick pit stop in Bologna to wet Brian's auto appetite. Most people don't know this, but Bologna is the epicenter for Italian auto-masterpieces. This includes Ducati, Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Maserati. We only had time to visit the Ducati and Lamborghini Museums since these are Brian's favorites. The Italians are still ...
Bologna, Emilia-Romagna, Italy whitenights... and that I went to school in California. She came in and asked me if I wanted a sandwich with jam on it. I said yes first to be polite though a jam sandwich struck me as less than ideal, but I figured if it wasn't good Italians wouldn't mess with it. Alex called her back in, and after a moment, and a bit of clarification she meant ham not jam, a proscutto sandwich. That sounded better. I took off for Reggie's following Alex's directions. I had to wait for 25 ...
Bologna, Emilia-Romagna, Italy mavsqb1... Venice is like a scene out of a movie. We got fresh bread and salami ate some fresh fruit and coconut and also dabbed into the gelato(icecream) it was amazing and puts our icecream to shame i think. We went to san marco square window shopped and saw the famous bacillica there. We also caught a little bit of a catholic mass in italian and got lost in all the different alley ways and streets. The next day we made our way over again and after half a day ...
Bologna, Emilia-Romagna, Italy antonym... with a 3 inch zipper and silver studs on all the pockets. Years ago it would have been a man in a 3 piece suit (the fact that now it was a woman is progress) with a classic pinstripe and red tie. Call me nostalgic but some changes cannot be ignored. With the price of gas now 1.40 Euro ($ 1.66) per LITER, which comes to $ 6.64 per gallon, we are on the train to Florence to buy car insurance for cars with non-Italian license plates. Round trip for 2 persons is 60 Euros ...
Bologna, Italy kcassaro... I was able to wander round in peace and quiet, which was a nice change after the traffic and cyclists I had battled earlier in the day! Modena is a nice little town, but I didn't find anything particularly special to report about it. Saturday 12th May - Ferrara Saturday I drove north to Ferrara, a medieval town contained within 9km of ancient city walls. The main attractions are the Castello Estense and Palazzo Municipale, home of the Este family who ...
Bologna and Ancona, Italy mistelit... 20,000 was very impressive and Hoges and I explored it for quite some time. Though it now functions as Verona’s opera house, both of us independently came to the same conclusion that it could also be put to a slightly different, less Italian, use: Its mini-Melbourne Cricket Ground proportions were absolutely perfect for a game of backyard/park cricket with a large group of friends or extended family.

As it got dark we were walking against the ...
