Mardi matin tot, Paola m'a deposee a Fano, ou j'ai passe quelques heures avec Yuri, un autre prof de yoga rencontre avec Walter en Inde, et sa compagne. Promenade sur le port, et dejeuner italien (recette locale de pates et parmesan !).

En tout debut d'apres-midi, Yuri m'a conduit a l'entree de l'autoroute. A peine m'avait-il quittee qu'une fille s'est arretee pour me prendre. Elle m'a laissee a 15 km d'Ancone, ou un routier ...

After a VERY skimpy breakfast (a cold croissant and an espresso) we embarked on a long day of driving up the east coast on the secondary highway. This not only avoided the expensive tolls but allowed us to at least see some of the natural & urban scenery. We needed to cover some distance in order to give us time for our tour around northern Italy.

... cafe`de durduk, 3 yudumluk Italyan kahvesini ictik. Gun yeni aydinlaniyor. Herkes ise gitme telasinda, duraklarda insanlar beklesiyor. Ancona yonune yani ters istikamette yogun trafik var. Etrafi gorelim diye otobana girmedik. Tek gelis tek gidis bir yoldan kiyi kiyi 50 km limitle gidiyoruz. Yol keyifli. Kasabalardan geciyoruz. Gercekten guzel evler var ama abartili degil. Sade ve guzel. Etraf sari yaprak dolu... Geldi yine ...

... on a work three day all expenses paid holiday and has sent photos of the private pool villa she has been put up in. It looks the lap of ultimate luxury - mentioned to her not to get too comfortable with such extravagance not likely to happen during Fowler family hols. Last but certainly not least Josh and Demi announce they are having a baby! Wow this is surprising news, but I think surprising also for them. Hmmm the prospect of grandparent-hood! Ouch ...

Well we finally made it to Ancona. We had pretty much uneventful flights. Watched some decent movies and had some ok food and got a little sleep. We arrived in Rome at 10am, and we made it through passport control and were on the train to the city by 11. We still had about 4 hours to kill before our train to Ancona, so we seized the day and did some Rome sightseeing, complete with heavy backpacks on our back and a very hot day ...
