... recording of discoveries began. The lapilli and ash had done an amazing job of preserving the city. Though walls and ceilings had collapsed, peoples belongings were left as they were when disaster struck. Basically it was a city buried in the ashes that is slowly being uncovered. Our guide on the tour told us that only 3/5 of the city has been uncovered and it was already a huge area. We were able to explore inside of homes, the market, and the baths. Naples is ...

The coast road is only wide enough for two buses in some places and corners only have room for one bus to negotiate. The road has a stone wall all the way on the cliff side. It feels very safe on the road. The bus drivers are very skilled. It is a very interesting journey. They ...

... of cliffs virtually the entire way around with grottos all along the trip.

After the trip we took the bus to Anacapri at the other end of the island. This is some of the most exciting roads I have been on, sheer cliffs dropping hundreds of feet on one side and buses about 2 inches away on the other. Anacapri is a sleepy little town compared to the hoards of visitors in Capri. No luxury high cost stores to blow the ...
