... of which the large Cathedral York Minster is the most prominent. The "Shambles" is also very popular, having provided inspiration to "Diagon Alley" in Harry Potter. It features a number of shops in a narrow cobbled stoned alley way.

... and there was a room for us! We have (reluctantly) moved in and it appears OK. Apart from the lack of Wi-Fi and even cellular. As an aside we have struggled to get decent cellular all over UK, and I have never had 4G. Anyway, a quick glimpse of the Minster and we are ready for bed! Today we successfully caught the 810 train to York. The train was a pretty neat experience, they waste no time! The tracks went along the coast and it was a beautiful ride, if you could stay awake! There are quite a few "ghost" tours to do in York - I guess being such an old town it's likely that there may be 'ghosts' or at least stories. We chose the York Terror Trail as this departed and returned to a cute little pub that is said to be haunted.

This tour, however, wasn't about ghosts. It was about a lot of the terrible things that have happened in York throughout the thousands of years.
