... the Shambles and behind the facades of the shops. Apart from the very strong wind it was worth the climb. We visited the Chapter House with its seven stained glass windows and beautiful flooring. I even managed to spot the one and only 'green man' as I was sitting underneath it. There is a new interactive attraction called the Undercroft, this follows the 2000 year journey of the Minster and is really quite moving especially the section on Resurrection, well ...

... to get out for a wander to find it about eight cars pulled into the carpark. As it was a very small carpark and we nearly filled one end of it we decided to move on before we got jammed in. There was nowhere else to park unfortunately so we didn't get to see whatever there is there to remember that dreadful day. ... part of the stone wall circling the inner part of York. We also inspected the York Minster which is a remarkable building. There were quite a few buskers around and provided cheap entertainment as did the Purple Man. It was approaching 2pm when we joined the queue to go to Betty's Tea Rooms. After 45 minutes we got to the head of the queue and the concierge showed us to our table. We had a nice lunch, a few pots of tea and shared ...
