Shopping and eating Venice Style

... patterns. The walls and the ceiling are covered in coloured mosaics depicting scenes of Jesus' life. The background of the images is gold leaf. It's a bit hard to explain but if you haven't seen it before look it up, it is beautiful. With all the rain we got to experience what it's like to to try and walk around Venice with flooding. When this happens they set up boardwalks to walk on. Although it seemed ...

... now. Looks like we'll be landing in Venice in about an hour and a half. Hope our luggage figured out how to get there. BTW, even though the WIFI logo is on the plane when you enter, that doesn't mean that there is WIFI on the plane. So far I've seen Winter's Tale, Tim's Vermeer and a Whoppi Goldberg documentary about Moms Mobbly. I've napped a bit ...

The sky is still grey this morning, but at least there is no rain, and it stays dry for the rest of the day. We start with a very nice breakfast in the surprisingly roomy living/dining area of our B&B — I had always imagined that the restriction on land space in Venice would mean everybody lived in cramped quarters, but that's not a problem here. However I suspect this fourth-floor apartment is a double, occupying the whole top floor, and we have a view on three sides in this ...

... figure out which dock to get on I heard a guy giving away complimentary trips to Murano. It was a promo thing but it was a free taxi to the island and a glass blowing display. Its Sunday and the production facility is closed so I guess this is their way of getting in on the weekend tourists. The taxi was cool, much faster then the vaporetto, and I could stand at the back to get some great pics (I hope) of the Venetian coast line.

We get to the glass production facility ...
