... we stayed at had free and generally fast wifi.

We we drove through Slovenia to Italy and arrived in Trieste around 1.00 this afternoon. We found our hotel for the night, parked the car and then went exploring. We caught the hop on hop off bus which gave us a great tour of the city and also some history. There are some very old buildings with great architecture and lots of detail on them.

... When we left the coast we travelled through nice villages, vineyards and agricultural areas. Checked into the hotel, where I have been upgraded to a suite, and then wandered along the shore to the old town to explore the alleyways that the driver of the back-up van, Rok, had told me about. ... almost as much of a challenge as finding accommodations the previous night. After driving for more than an hour and making numerous stops along the way to ask if restaurants had wifi, we finally found a cafe in Labin and booked an accommodation for tonight.

Relieved, we drove to Opatija, which is a beautiful coastal town and settled in our gorgeous apartment. Gare and I had one room, while Ren had another and we had a modern kitchen ...

... her if she needed any help. She started speaking in a language I did not know and I asked her if it was Slovene. When she shook her head, I asked her if she spoke Italian, and she shook her head and responded "Deutsch". The only phrase I knew to saw to her in German, was "I don't speak German", but after saying this to her, I put my hand out and she took it.
