... as we approached Cyprus. We ran along the north coast towards the east and arrived at our destination, Kyrenia (Turkish Girne), pretty well right on my ETA of 7:30 am. ... 10th Aug - Clean up morning so we were up early to make a start. Decided also to pull of fridge and washing machine and give a good clean out behind, no creatures living there and apart from some dust was not to bad....saves doing it next week before we leave. The big clean done we checked the freezer just to check what.was still there that needed eating....few bbqs we think. So on that vein we decided it was bbq tonight and selected chicken and sausages. ... and mint. Tried one as we could not resist - they were so yummy. Pool afternoon, bit crowded today with about 25 people sat around, busiest day so far this year. Decided to pop into Girne this evening, cocktails on the roof of White Pearl Hotel and also try out there curry selection. Set off at 7:30pm into town and as it was a Saturday there were plenty of others doing the same. ... and a light lunch plus cold honeydew melon. All whilst watching youtube clips about Vietnam and Cambodia. It was now 4pm and the thermometer on the back patio which admittedly was in the sun, showed 120F! Decided to put off pool till evening when things hopefully a little cooler......so it was on with a dvd to while away an hour or so. Sarah took a stroll to the pool at around 5:30pm for a bit of sunbathing now it wasnt so fierce, John following on 30 mins ...
... in Girne we parked up and strolled to the White Pearl Hotel rooftop for some cocktails.....Tequila Sunrise.....and then watch the sun set. Feeling hungry we then left and headed towards home and the Happy Valley restaurant. Calamari and garlic mushrooms to start followed by fish curry for Kays and pepper steak for the oldies. As always a lovely meal and excellent value. We were the last to leave the restaurant and by 10:30pm we were home, bed and some people were asleep within 5 mins!
