We had booked a room in another place for that night but seeing that it was in the middle of nowhere we asked the taxi driver to take us somewhere better and this was his choice. It was ok for what we paid, air condition absolutely needed in sri lanka was provided. Right next to the beach, swimming pool nothing special. I would probably not repeat but it was a good last minute option

... quite dire and it's impossible to buy anything here even in Thailand.
these thoughts and more were running through my head as I headed back go negumbo. I took a bus to the city of Kurunegala where I met a lovely local girl about 16 years old. I helped her with her English assignment, we talked about boy bands and her crush and shared some local snacks (deep fried Dahl and peppers).she gave me a friendship barrette at the end and asked me never to forget her. ... and it gets pretty cold. It freezes at the top of the mountain. Then we started the climb.. On an average night, 2500 pilgrims climb up the mountain, but what we forgot was that Friday was full moon day, also known as Poya day, and that's a big religious holiday here. The first hour was ok, but then we caught up with the crowds... You see small children, old people who can barely walk, as well as people getting carried up in stretchers. I ...

Prior to yesterday's rant, I left you after a waterlogged morning hike on Horton Plains. Well, it was a long day and the train to Kandy decided to make things more difficult by not stopping at the right station. However, when I got off the train I noticed three other backpackers and asked if they wanted to share a tuk tuk to Kandy. I ended up sharing with Carina, an Austrian who had already booked accommodation as well (unlike me). See, this is the beauty of backpacking ...

... I like spice food but it was too much even for me. I had to drink 4 bottles of soda (0.8lts) and I was still suffering. Besides the spiciness it was the first time for the two of us eating with our hands in Sri Lanka. It’s a very liberating thing to do. Everybody eats with their hands in Sri Lanka, forks and knifes are just western influence.

After this we kept on walking down the Galle Street passing by the presidentīs house, Galle Face Green and Parliament ...

... to suffer any permanent damage. This is definitely not a place for anyone who values, (or needs any) personal space!

After two and a half hours we arrived in Galle which was buzzing with people celebrating the holiday. Our hotel was right by the ramparts and had a lovely view out to sea from the roof bar/restaurant although it was small and basic but very friendly. We are going back for a few days when we return from India as we enjoyed it so much and want to visit ...
