To begin, the train journey turned out to be 14.5 hours from Bangkok and it was the hottest train we have yet been on. Ok we only booked for a fan carriage but woah it felt like a hairdryer being pointed at you. The sleeper beds were comfy and we arrived safe and sound. First impression of Chiang Mai was 'Boom- the heat hits you!'. We had a nicer …

We said our goodbyes to Bangkok by finding a quiet room above the hustle and bustle treating ourselves to our first thai massage, wow we agree with the opinion that Thai's are the experts when it comes to massage! Boy did we feel the benefit after a busy few days. The day came when We had to embrace the Thai experience and buy off the street food …

Chiang Mai is often disputed as “Thailand's second largest city," but it is nothing like it's big brother, Bangkok: traffic and pollution is minimal, living costs are much more affordable and village life, forests and waterfalls are short distances from the city in all directions. And what do you know? There's great climbing near Chiang Mai …

Centrally located, spacious rooms, great cool swimming pool and friendly staff we couldn't ask for more from this hotel.

From the outside, it did look a bit run down but the inside it was quite modern.

We chose the hotel because of the area which was on the main street in Chiang Mai, very close to the daily evening market, Sunday walking market and restaurants. It was only 100baht in a Tuk Tuk to Chiang Mai Zoo as well.

I stayed only because I shared a room with a friend who had pre-booked. The place is a regular hotel with a swimming pool but as a backpacker I felt it lacked charm and was overpriced. In a convenient location near Tha Pae Gate I would recommend for those on holiday.

The hotel and staff were very nice. Had a little bit of an ant problem in my room, but nothing too gross. Breakfast every morning was nice, and the little alcohol cart outside was super fun to hang out at!
