Elne is a town about 20 minutes south of Perpignan quite close to the Spanish border. The drive was fine until I actually got there and kept missing the little side street the hotel was in, resulting in me driving around in circles for about 40 minutes. Also managed to scrape the passenger side rear view mirror navigating one of the extraordinarily narrow streets of the old city. And don't even get me started on re-learning hill starts with a manual transmission.

Well, the platform that the new train was on was all the way to the opposite side... of course!!! So there I went again hauling all my bags down across and up again, plus isn't easy getting all the baggage on the train, either. Some of trains have 2 to 3 steps. Well, I finally got all my stuff on and off we went to my next stop.
Having our friends here gave us the opportunity to proudly show others ‘our’ town. They got the vibe instantly and slotted right into the good life. There is not much else to do here except enjoy the sun and water, food and drinks, shops and galleries. We plodded from café to café, bar to bar, nibbling our way through the town. We drove south to Perpignan today. It's a city in the Catalan region just above the Spanish border. Unfortunately, it was pouring, which made it not so fun to sight see. And unfortunately, we arrived right at noon, which is when all the shops close for 2 hours....and they were some very interesting unique shops I wanted to look in.
