... St. Savior's. It's tiny, with more frescos, some of which are in remarkable condition. The most interesting fresco depicts the first icon. Similar to the story behind the Shroud of Turin, in the Orthodox tradition a sick man sent a servant to draw a picture of Jesus and bring it back to him in the hope that the picture would cure him. Jesus didn't have time to sit for a portrait, so he took a piece of cloth and wiped his face on it, thus transferring his visage ...

... a minute's walk away. Stefan's aunt works there, so he saw a lot of family today. Stefan himself began helping with archaeological digs in the area when he was seven or eight years old, and he was at the dig the day the above-mentioned helmet was found. The beehive-shaped tomb was small and cramped but contained an interesting ceiling fresco that has been interpreted as a wedding scene, a funeral scene, and a coronation scene. On the other side of the coin, looming over the town is the quite frightening 'Creators of the Bulgarian Sate' monument designed and constructed in 1981 during the height of the Communist era.

As you walk towards this towering concrete construction you could believe that at any moment it might open up and deliver a 100 megaton missile on the world.

... took into account the beverages we sip at the end of a day.

The countryside was very pretty – gently rolling hills and some higher ‘blue’ mountains on the horizon. Sunset was also a gentle process with a pastel sky which lasted for quite a long time.

Back on the main road which was reasonable but had some unexpected warped surfaces, we decided that with dusk approaching, we should stick to the biggest road ...

... On my way back to the safe distance from all the jellyfish I saw couple more- small ones, but I already knew I was done swimming. Random fact- I always thought that when you touch a jellyfish it feels more like a.... jelly?? Not like a fish o.O

The plan for the rest of the night was walking around and a dinner in Sozopol. Nice town, full of tourists and souvenir shops. I got pizza, which wasn't the best choice ...
