Helgolandsgt 4 Copenhagen, Zealand, Denmark, 1653
... there. It's nice to be able to walk around with open drinks, stupid American laws. then wandered back to Stephen's hotel for more booze.. then off to the Cozy Bar. We were all fairly trashed and having a good time... ugh. I had to leave at a decent hour (like 1am) as my flight was leaving at 9:55am.
By this time, I had a good feel for routes and even drunk off my ass, wandered back to my hotel just fine. Crashed out to end a good time in Europe.
Next up Moscow, Russia.
Episode II Roskilde
Glastonbury’s sequel, Roskilde had some supermassive shoes to fill. TSJ’s didn’t know what to expect from Denmark’s biggest party and probably shouldn’t have expected anything like Glastonbury, but with the reviews I had read and the line up on offer we couldn’t help it.
As you’ll read in the following chapter, one of the first words that comes to mind when describing Roskilde is ‘ ...
... It's a bit of a hippy community where people openly smoke and sell weed (although Andrea's host mom said that it was still illegal to do so) on the streets. There was a lot of artwork and graffiti on the buildings and there were even a few booths selling rasta merchandise! Andrea's host mom took us around and showed us their schools, horses, and even the pond area that some of the houses are on (and that I incidentally ran through during one of my pond runs ...
Copenhagen, Capital Region, Denmark annalise.mOne day in Copenhagen. Drove down with Lewis & Ginny from their home in Almhult, Sweden. Our main destination within the city was the Rosenborg Castle. The castle was built in the early 1600s but other phases were added later. We merged into a tour with a guide that was American and quite good and the castle itself was ...
Copenhagen, Zealand, Denmark jeffnsara... a couple locals the entire time and hopefully gave them a good impression about the US that we were nice individuals and what not, and Bobbi did the same since she always seems to meet locals. The town had known a few days in advance that we were all coming since they only get a few cruise ships each year and they printed out fliers in our honor and had a live band when we first docked, which was ruined slightly because of the downpour (the second night they ...
Copenhagen, Denmark conman... so a course is set up and people run around in circles. If you're running the marathon, you have a lot of laps to run, people running a 5K or 10K will run the same course, just fewer times. This put a big monkey wrench into navigating through downtown. We were inexperienced bike riders even without hundreds of people standing around and running in the streets. First it was over to the Christianshavn district for lunch, we biked around the canals and saw that part of the city. There is ...
Copenhagen, Zealand, Denmark tbassplayer... forward in time to evaluate our conversational topics at Tom's party and then returned to the past (his present) and studied a myriad of texts on Copenhagen's history in a successful attempt to astound me with his expertness. Likely? No. But certainly plausible. So we ate and it was good. Briefly I will tell you about J-day. J-day is a big event in Copenhagen as it marks the arrival of many, many trucks to this fair city. What kind of ...
Copenhagen, Denmark lordcool... built with a spiral ramp, which I think is much more characteristic of Middle Eastern architecture. Since the ramp was so shallow, it takes a rather long time to go to the top. Luckily the old library has been converted into an art gallery with changing exhibitions. This exhibition was about African clothes designers, popular artists, and architecture firms working on low cost sustainable housing ...
Copenhagen, Denmark sarahindenmark... think it is for lazy people to take taxis, but I am glad I did -there is no way I would have found the hostel otherwise! After a large and fulfilling, but very cheap, lunch I walked a bit around to get to know the surroundings. It didn't take very long though before I felt exhausted and went back to my room to relax. I didn't fall asleep before I had learned a good deal about the city I had come to, though.
Copenhagen, Denmark bambi... hungry, and soaked from rain. I decided we were just going to stay in a hotel. It was more than I originally planned to pay for a room but my god it was worth it at that point. While walking to our hotel room I had doubts if I was doing the right thing, that all changed when I walked into the room and the tv said "Welcome Mr. Williams". I have never had an electronic make me feel so important.
This solved the sleeping ...
