... they overlooked the fact that kids love climbing and jumping on things...as well as the fact that 1000+ blocks make a great hide and seek/tag course.
From the memorial, we walked past a big park that was behind the Parliament building, in the direction of Bradenburger Tor (Bradenburger Gate), which was built in the 18th century by Friedrich Wilhelm II. It is essentially a gate made of roman columns, which a statue symbolizing victory ...
... bike ride from her house.
I was pretty nervous to see how I'd feel in the water after literally not touching a pool since August. However, I was pleasantly surprised. My conditioning obviously needs some work, but my technique is still pretty good in most regards, and the problems that do exist are easy to detect (I haven't lost my feel). The only significant problem seems to be that my fly is dead. The 200 ...
... to be a haven for pick pockets, I felt very safe at this controlled entrance market and could enjoy the two hours strolling around the market.
"Gendarmen" is the old word for police constables, and the people dressed in blue uniform at the entrance of the market depict those Gendarmen.
Once inside, there are about one hundred stalls offering ...
... a little unusual though is the 500 sqm Ice World ramp. A more than 20 meter high and 50 meter long ramp was built right on the Potsdamer Platz Station, and iced over. People can then hire four "rides" in a tire down the iced ramp for about EUR 1.50. Great fun. Shot a short video of one of the rides.
... Munchen to catch Fred and Elfie before than ran off on their holiday to Tunisia!
Plus it was getting a little cold and rainy for us up there.
On the roads in Europe, the majority of them don't have speed limits, so we were constantly driving about 140km/hour, which scarily didn't feel very fast!! So, of course...Dad being Dad, decided to see how fast our little Punto could go! We got up to 190km/hour! Luckily Mum was asleep so she didn't notice ;)
... insomnia and slight crazyness. But a great excuse to bite the people around you:) For some reason there was a shortage of Rabies vaccinations in Germany so I had to order them from France at 60 euros an injection (3 injections 180euros!!!). All up the vaccinations are costing close to 500Euros. But I feel better with the knowledge that if our world is suddenly overun by plague and desease I am the man whos gonna survive! Africa Im coming!
Schnega, Germany joshiestravels... of Berlin, Friedrich- something. The inside is beautiful and is dimly lit and filled with white marble statues. As the evening gets cold and dark (the sun sets at about 3:50 in Berlin this time of year) I head back to the Hostel to try to get warm and meet up with Liz.
We hang out a bit in the hostel chatting with other people and storing up warmth for the night! After a little while we head out to live the big city some more. After strolling ...
Plau, Germany caroruben... music!! Everything from brass bands to all string bands with cello, bass, guitar, and violin. We saw Ska and punk and reggae and DnB and trance and electro and live funk and countrz and even sounds I canät reallz describe! Besides the new and amazing sounds, the stages were set with themes like 'seaside' (i.e. a huge beach of sand and a lake, lit with fire torches and flowers) and ...
Mirow, Germany lolly... for the Potsdamer Conferenz with Stalin, Churchill and Truman.) I felt so sorry for the tourguides at these two places because Herr Bayer kept on interrupting them and making them feel uncomfortable. HE should have kept his mouth shut and added what he wanted to say later.
The first castle was built in the 1700s and was in the French Rococco style. It was really beautiful but a bit over the top. The second was more of a Tudor Style ...
