Michael gave me instructions to catch the train into town, because the markets were on today, and I did think about going. Wasn't really worried about catching the tram, but thought I might get lost in town and not find my way back to tram stop, so gave it a miss. The day passed quickly anyway. ...

... Hugo was living in Rotterdam. Van Nelle produces tobacco, coffee and tea and is situated on the banks of the Schie River. It is one of the most historic industrial buildings in the world, built in the 1930's and features in the Unesco world heritage. It was in this part of the river that children used to swim, including the Overweels.
Back to the car, and the next stop the Mathenesserbrug drawbridge which is still the original bridge ...

... time, we had reached the ferry to Kinderdijk. At this point it had been raining some time and we had stopped earlier by the stadium to don our raincoats, getting heckled by lads passing in a car "Hoi dames!" and asked by some passing older men if we were lost trying to find the stadium (which was quite amusing to think we were that lost, as the stadium was literally behind us!)

Once off the ferry and onto land again, we continued on our way and 5/10 minutes ...

... table in a restaurant separate to where everyone else was eating in the main restaurant. My name is on a reserved sign and I order from a 3 course menu. The food was delicious not to mention the view right in front of a window displaying a beautiful sunset over the ocean. The food and bed option on top of my ticket was more than worth it. The ferry reaches England at 6.30am so I retire to bed for a quiet's night rest especially in comparison to hostel sleeping.

... determined to get Argentinean steak and go to the restaurant by the canal at night so walk down to the canal. It is 8.40, at least it has stopped snowing and Mediterranean's eat late don't they ... Got table in restaurant, briefly torn between steak and ribs but was swayed by the description of the Argentinean sauce ( vegetables with a bit of spice) and the sirlion steak is called Bife de Chorizo! Nice steak, rare means raw, tasty but chewy no chorizo sadly. Ordered chips and ...
