We got up at 5:30 and headed out on a Shakara in the slowly rising sun through the maze of canals on the lake. The lake was so calm and the bird life fantastic. ... had come and gone and although I’d tried to e-mail her on numerous occasions, internet connections were sporadic and unreliable at best. Mohammed lent us his laptop and, on Skype, Tim called his wife at work in Aberfoyle. Unbelievably, the server couldn’t find Hotmail / Google and my continued inability to send Cathy a short message letting her know that I was alive, reasonably well and thinking of her dropped me into a bit of a blue funk.
