Getting there...

A travel blog entry by zachandsarah

... 30 hrs or so (minus a few napping hours on the second plane ride).

We get on the train and arrive in Bruge in about an hour. We found a taxi easily enough and he took us to the Hotel de Notre Dame. We're looking at the door and realize there is no one inside and the door is locked. We stop the taxi driver and say there's no way to get in and he assures us there is a bell and drives off. Unfortunately the bike was playing up by this point - the chain had stretched and was at the end of its life and enough mechanics had told us that ...

Bruge is basically overcrowded and perhaps a tad fake but is also a city not to be missed. It displays itself as a medieval city however most of it was rebuilt in the 19th and 20th century. despite this it has managed to retain it's history and is very impressive at the same time. The best ...
