The Descent.
... In truth is wasn’t too challenging, as long you like stone steps, plus the fact that you know the end [in terms of summits and peaks] is close helps. We had had beautiful clear blue skies and great clarity all morning [so nice after being exposed to the permanent grey of cities] and it continued all the way up and on during the day. We hit the peak summit at around 9am. It’s pretty tight up there, and there plenty of ...
Seeing more of Hunan ('s bars)
I hadn't planned to go to Yiyang this weekend and Friday came and went in a perfectly ordinary manner. I went to Changsha (standard); went to a bar with Mary and lots of Chinese people we barely knew, who we knew through ZC; drank weak whiskey and ice-tea whilst playing dice (of course); left Mary in that bar to go and meet three guys from training in a smaller bar; went to club 97 (naturally).

We found some policeman who directed us down what looked like the less likely option. The language barrier continues to be a huge problem, we ...
Back Amongst the Mad Mountain Folk
... close to Yunnan province today. We both felt nervous that our map was running out, but towns had been frequent so far, so felt sure that we could find somewhere to stay. The first 12 miles were ok, gentle climbs, but a good road. We stopped for a break and had the bikes pressure washed by a happy chap who obviously spends all day smoking and hosing. Winding through random towns, we stopped at one to watch the villagers barter for some kind of brown ...
